Ginsberg Law Offices has served metro Atlanta residents with personal bankruptcy representation for over 25 years. Recently, we have expanded our practice to include student loan law – helping borrowers navigate the confusing and complicated world of deferments, repayment plans and default cure.
Meet our lawyers and staff:
“I represent clients facing problems with student loan debt collection, and I help struggling borrowers who are not in default restructure their loans to achieve lower monthly payments and reduced payoffs when possible. My student loan practice grew out of my consumer bankruptcy work, which I have been doing since the early 1990’s. Although bankruptcy should be your last resort, it can be a valuable financial tool used to stop the harsh consequences of default – things like wage garnishment, repossession, foreclosure and even unrelenting harassment by bill collectors.
In addition to student loan and bankruptcy work, I also represent deserving claimants seeking disability benefits from the Social Security Administration.
I am a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Northside (now North Atlanta) high school. I attended Tulane University in New Orleans as an undergraduate, majoring in history. I remained at Tulane for law school and I graduated from Tulane Law School in 1986. I returned to Atlanta and have been in private law practice ever since.
I believe strongly in educating my potential clients about legal matters that have often become much more complicated than they ought to be. Besides this student loan web site, I also publish an Atlanta bankruptcy web site that contains extensive written and video content. I also blog about bankruptcy matters on my own blog and as a contributing editor of the Bankruptcy Law Network blog.
I also teach bankruptcy fundamentals at continuing legal education programs here in the Atlanta area, and I teach a class at Solo Practice University called Starting a Social Security Disability practice.”
“I manage the firm’s workers’ compensation law practice, assisting men and women hurt on the job obtain temporary total disability wage benefits, medical care and expense reimbursement as provided for under Georgia law. Workers compensation in Georgia has become an extremely adversarial area of practice and I spend a good part of my day negotiating with insurance adjustors or opposing counsel, filing motions to compel insurance companies to fulfill their responsibilities or litigating on behalf of my clients.
Our workers’ compensation law practice publishes a comprehensive web site, and a blog. I also regularly record videos to help inform clients and potential clients about this challenging area of the law.”
When I joined Ginsberg Law Offices as an of counsel attorney, I felt the immediate impact I had on people’s lives with the Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases that I was involved with and filed. I am very satisfied with our bankruptcy practice. We see people who need immediate help with dire financial and personal situations. With my directed advice, I am able to resolve clients’ immediate problems. In many cases, I am able to put clients on a path towards financial wholeness that they might have never experienced before.
I see my role as a bankruptcy attorney as more than just filing a petition. As your lawyer, I serve as both your attorney as as your counselor. This means that I will listen to you and treat you with the same respect and consideration that I would expect if I was meeting a lawyer. I know that you have most likely never been in a bankruptcy lawyer’s office and that the whole process can be overwhelming. Because of this, I will stand with you every step of the way as we walk through this process together. I will offer guidance and advice so you will have the tools to make an informed decision about this life-changing event.
I manage all of my bankruptcy cases, whether Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, closely and personally. When you call my office, I will respond directly to you. My clients come in with urgent problems, and I am usually able to offer both bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy alternatives. Offering my clients solutions to seemingly impossible situations is extremely rewarding.
My background in public service makes me well suited to be a bankruptcy attorney and advocate on behalf of debtors. I earned my Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Columbia University and a Master of Public Administration and Public Policy from New York University. My professional experience includes government relations and public policy work. I also have extensive experience in the practice of Immigration Law. While in law school, I was Associate Editor Lead Articles for the Georgia State University Law Review and co-founder of the Immigration Law Society. My note, The Illegal Immigration Reform & Immigrant Responsibility Act’s One-Year Filing Deadline on Applications for Asylum: The Narrow Interpretation and Application of Exceptions to the Filing Deadline, 22 Ga. St. U. L. Rev. 463 (2005), was published.
I am a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the Superior Court of Fulton County.
